Chelsea Gets Great Smile With Porcelain Veneers

Laguna Niguel porcelain veneers

Chelsea had crooked, discolored teeth and got an amazing smile with porcelain veneers in just two appointments with Dr. Huefner

Chelsea is a young lady in her 20s.  She was always self conscious about her smile because her teeth were crooked and discolored.  It was bothering her so much that she wouldn’t smile when she was in photos.  Her parents wanted her to have braces when she was a youngster and she always regretted that she wouldn’t go through the braces process back then.  Now, as a young adult, she wanted a beautiful smile, but still was unwilling to go through braces.  After speaking with one of her co-workers who had cosmetic dentistry, she wondered if she could have cosmetic dentistry instead of orthodontics.  So, she went to Dr. Huefner, her co-worker’s dentist, to see what he could do to help her.

Dr. Huefner discussed her options.  He told Chelsea that she could solve her problem either orthodontics with braces or Invisalign, followed with teeth bleaching, or porcelain veneers.  When she learned that there was a big difference in the amount of time between her two options, she immediately chose that Dr. Huefner do porcelain veneers for her.  He said she could have her beautiful new smile in just two appointments with the porcelain veneer approach, rather than many months with either of the two orthodontic approaches.  Also, by doing porcelain veneers he could make the shape of her teeth more perfect and she could actually choose the color.  One huge advantage that Dr. Huefner told Chelsea, was that porcelain veneers would not stain or darken over time, compared with the bleaching approach, which would need to be repeated every six to twelve months to keep her teeth looking their whitest.

After the two appointments and getting her new porcelain veneers by Dr. Huefner, Chelsea was absolutely thrilled with the results.  And as you can see by the final results, she has no reason to not show her beautiful new smile when she gets photos taken!

How Do I Keep My Porcelain Veneers White?

Porcelain veneers are designed to be stain-resistant, but this doesn’t mean that they will maintain their shade forever. As always, practicing good dental hygiene is the best way to preserve the appearance of your teeth in addition to their health.

When your porcelain veneers are first placed, they will have a polished, glossy sheen. In order to maintain this sheen, use a non-abrasive toothpaste. Dr. Huefner can recommend a safe brand.

If you consume lots of coffee, tea, or red wine, try using a straw whenever possible to bypass your veneers. When you come in for a routine dental check-up, Dr. Huefner will polish off any surface stains that have accumulated on your veneers.

Choosing the right cosmetic dentist is the best way to ensure the quality of your porcelain veneers lasts. If your veneers were not placed by an experienced cosmetic dentist, the edges of your teeth may stain and reveal where the veneer was bonded in place. Well-placed and well-maintained porcelain veneers can last for over a decade without staining or fading.

Combining Teeth Whitening with Porcelain Veneers

Teeth whitening and porcelain veneers are two of the most popular cosmetic dentistry procedures we perform. Alone, each procedure can dramatically transform the appearance of your smile. However, for certain candidates, they are most effective when used together.

Porcelain veneers are generally used on the teeth that show when you smile (called your “smile line”). Different people will show a different number of teeth when they smile; for example, some only show six or eight, while others with wider smiles – such as Julia Roberts – show twelve.

Choosing the right number of porcelain veneers is important to ensure a uniform smile line; if you place too few veneers, there may be a significant contrast between the color of your natural teeth and the color of your veneers, unless you deliberately tint your veneers a duller shade.

Since most people want the brightest smile possible, using teeth whitening first – before veneers are placed – is often an excellent option. Teeth whitening can improve the shade of your natural teeth, allowing you to tint your veneers a brighter shade of white while ensuring your smile line is seamless.

However, it’s important to note that some teeth contain deep intrinsic stains that cannot be removed by teeth whitening. If this is the case, you may need to place more porcelain veneers to mask these stains. Our experienced Orange County cosmetic dentist Dr. Huefner will discuss all of your options with you in detail after carefully examining the condition of your teeth.

If you have further questions about teeth whitening or porcelain veneers, please contact Huefner Sensational Smiles today or call (949) 495-6322 to schedule a cosmetic dentistry consultation. We serve patients in Laguna Niguel, Irvine, Newport Beach, Mission Viejo, and surrounding areas of Orange County.

Newport Beach Porcelain Veneers

Newport Beach porcelain veneers

Viviana got an amazing improvement in the appearance of her teeth and smile with her new porcelain veneers by Dr. Huefner. She got the whiter color she wanted, and most importantly her teeth were now straight and even! Her entire treatment was completed in a little over two weeks at Dr. Huefner’s Laguna Niguel cosmetic dental office.

Viviana is a mother of two from Newport Beach.  She had several porcelain veneers placed fifteen years ago.  “When my dentist made my veneers back then he corrected several huge problems, as my teeth really didn’t look very good,” she told Dr. Huefner.  “But over the years three things have happened that make me unhappy with them.  Now I’m ready to replace them with new porcelain veneers that really look nice.”

Dr. Huefner asked her what those three things were?  First, she said that her dentist had made her new veneers to match her other teeth.  What she really wanted was whiter teeth.  Second, her gums receded around  five of her teeth and was hoping that the new porcelain veneers could be made longer around her gum line to hide her darkish yellow roots.  The third thing was that even with the porcelain veneers, her teeth are crooked.  She asked Dr. Huefner if by redoing her old porcelain veneers could he make them all straight and even?

crooked teeth and old porcelain veneers that needed replacing

What Viviana disliked most about her old porcelain veneers was that her teeth were crooked and uneven. She also wanted her new porcelain veneers whiter, to cover her exposed yellow roots and to eliminate the discoloration between her old veneers.

After carefully looking at her teeth and old dentistry, Dr. Huefner assured Viviana that her could do all the things she wanted with new porcelain veneers. He could make her new porcelain veneers whiter, actually any tooth color that Viviana chooses.  The new porcelain veneers would also be made longer to cover her dark roots, and also straight and even, unlike her previous dentist had done.

Her teeth are now straight and even, whiter, the discolored roots are covered over and there is no more discoloration between her veneers. Viviana new smile not only made her look much more attractive, but the whiter straight teeth made her look a little younger too!

Viviana’s cosmetic dental treatment with new porcelain veneers was actually very straight forward and was finished in just over two weeks time.

White Porcelain Veneers for Newport Beach lady by Dr. Huefner

white porcelain veneers BL1 shade

Lower photo: Julianne had very brown and short teeth. She wanted a more attractive smile and had always wished she had white teeth. Upper photo: Dr. Huefner gave Julianne a more youthful and attractive smile with white porcelain veneers. Julianne wanted the whitest shade that Dr. Huefner could make for her. She chose the BL1 tooth shade.

Julianne from Newport Beach is a very attractive lady in her 60s.  She has always made a commitment to look her best.  She works out regularly, is fit and trim.  Julianne also dresses well, and has much pride in her appearance.  As a baby boomer, she certainly has achieved the envy of most of her peers.  Many would say that she has it all, charm, personality and looks.  There was just one thing that Julianne was missing, and it really bothered her.  Julianne had short, brown unattractive teeth!

When Julianne came to Dr. Huefner she knew precisely what she wanted.  “I want white, younger looking teeth,” she told Dr. Huefner.  She also told Dr. Huefner that she was hoping that he could do white porcelain veneers for her.  Her last dentist told her that “veneers wouldn’t work for her” and that he would have to do porcelain caps.  When he told her that she started doing some research herself on cosmetic dentistry options.  She learned that white porcelain veneers were a more conservative cosmetic dental procedure and would be healthier dental treatment for her teeth and gums than porcelain crowns, and was really hoping that Dr. Huefner could do white porcelain veneers for her.

Because of Julianne's tan, olive complexion Dr. Huefner recommended BL2 or BL3 tooth shades, which wouldn't contrast much with her skin color and would have a more natural appearance.

When Dr. Huefner examined Julianne’s teeth he found them to be very healthy.  Yes her front teeth were really worn down from her teeth grinding habit (bruxism), but they didn’t have any previous cavities or fillings.  This was good!  Julianne was very excited when Dr. Huefner explained to her that he thought she would be an excellent candidate for white porcelain veneers.  He could make her new smile look absolutely beautiful with whiter, longer, more youthful looking front teeth.  “The only real question,” Dr. Huefner asked Julianne, “is how white do you want your white porcelain veneers to be?”  Dr. Huefner explained some very important points about the color of porcelain veneers.  First, that she could choose the color of her new white porcelain veneers.  He would make recommendations as to the most natural color that would work with her face and the color of her skin, but the ultimate choice would be hers.  He pointed out that she had a pretty nice tan, and that since she wasn’t sixteen any more really white teeth might look a little too over the top for her.  Dr. Huefner brought out the dental shade guide and began showing Julianne the different colors that she might want to consider.  Dr. Huefner’s preference for her was either a BL3 or BL2 shade.  Both of those were lighter than the color most natural teeth, but still looked “real and very nice.”

dental shade guide

Julianne chose the BL1 tooth shade, the whitest color that appears at the far left on the tooth shade guide.

But Julianne knew what she wanted.  She wanted white porcelain veneers.  She asked Dr. Huefner, “What is the most white porcelain veneer tooth color that you can make for me?”  Dr. Huefner went to the tooth shade guide, pulled out the tooth shade farthest on the left, the BL1 tooth color.  When he put that color up to Julianne’s very dark brown teeth she knew instantly that BL1 was the shade of white porcelain veneers that she wanted him to make for her.  “My whole life I’ve always wanted really white teeth, I definitely want BL1!” she told Dr. Huefner.

Julianne got the more attractive and youthful smile that she had wanted. She chose the BL1 color for her white porcelain veneers. She did bleach her lower teeth, but they did not get as white as the BL1 shade. But her lower teeth doesn't show that much. She said that she eventually plans on getting white porcelain veneers for her lower teeth in the future.

Then Julianne had two other important questions.  “Will my white porcelain veneers get darker over the years like my natural teeth did?”  She was very pleased with Dr. Huefner’s answer.  White porcelain veneers are very color stable and should not change color at all provided she has good oral hygiene, brushes every day and get’s her teeth cleaned every six months.  The second questions was what about her lower teeth?  If she got white porcelain veneers for her upper teeth and didn’t get white porcelain veneers on her lower teeth, how would that look?  Dr. Huefner explained to Julianne that about two thirds of the patients he treats with white porcelain veneers just bleach their lower teeth.  The other one third get white porcelain veneers and their lower teeth as well.  If she was committed and persistent, the teeth bleaching would whiten her lower teeth considerably, but most probably not as white as BL1.  However most people won’t notice that much and it may not be a problem.  Julianne thought and said that she would start with white porcelain veneers on her upper teeth, teeth bleaching on her lower teeth, and if the teeth bleaching of her lower teeth wasn’t white enough for her that later on she would come back to Dr. Huefner and get white porcelain veneers on her lower teeth.

Julianne’s white porcelain veneer treatment was completed a few weeks later.  She was ecstatic with the results!  “I couldn’t be happier with the color,” she told Dr. Huefner.  He teeth bleaching got her lower teeth whiter, but as Dr. Huefner had predicted, they did not get as white as the BL1 color of her white porcelain veneers on her upper teeth.  Julianne said that she would return to him next year to get white porcelain veneers on her lower teeth.  Dr. Huefner also made Julianne a night guard, a dental appliance worn at night by people who grind their teeth.  The night guard would help prevent her lower teeth from wearing down any more and also help protect her upper white porcelain veneers from breaking if she continued to brux her teeth at night while she was sleeping.

San Diego cosmetic dentist helps Donna look younger and more attractive

Lower photos: Donna felt her teeth were crooked and yellow and desperately wanted a whiter, more youthful and attractive smile. Upper photos: Dr. Huefner did a smile makeover for Donna with all-ceramic non-metal porcelain crowns, giving her white, straight teeth.

Donna is an attractive professional lady in her 40s, married and the mother of two and lives in San Diego.  In her profession she knows that her appearance is important and has always worked hard to look her best.  Fifteen years ago she went to a San Diego cosmetic dentist because she chipped her front teeth.  Her dentist saw that she also had large discolored fillings in her teeth and recommended that he put porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns on her front four teeth.  She followed his advice and the metal based porcelain crowns were placed.  Since then she has been very aware of her teeth, especially her own.  She started realizing that although her teeth were healthy, they just didn’t look very attractive.  Something needed to be done to give Donna a better looking smile.

She came to Dr. Huefner, San Diego cosmetic dentist as he was recommended to her by one of her colleagues.  She wanted Dr. Huefner’s recommendations on what could be done with modern techniques in cosmetic dentistry to give her a younger looking and more attractive teeth and smile?  Before rushing to make any recommendations Dr. Huefner asked Donna what younger and more attractive looking teeth look like?  She answered:

  • Teeth are white, not yellow like mine
  • Teeth are straight, not crooked like mine
  • Gums are even and there isn’t a darkness around the teeth in the gums
  • Teeth look “real”, not fake like my caps

Lower photo: Donna's old crowns were yellow, lifeless and unattractive. Also they produced dark lines around Donna's gums. Upper photo: Donna got the beautiful straight, white teeth she wanted. Also her gums returned to normal and there were no black lines around her gums with the all-ceramic non-metal crowns.

In Donna’s case it was easy to see what she was talking about.  Her dentist probably only looked at her four front teeth, not her entire smile, when he made his recommendations.  She had some very yellow and crooked side teeth, but he didn’t address them at all.  Since he was only doing crowns on four teeth, he matched the color of her other teeth.  Also, he used a more generic type of crown, porcelain on the outside and metal (usually some type of gold) on the inside called porcelain fused to metal crowns.  Although these types of crowns are very functional they frequently have problems matching the esthetics of natural teeth.  The gold underneath the porcelain doesn’t allow natural light to partially transmit through the teeth like natural teeth do.  That is why most teeth with porcelain fused to metal crowns look flat, lifeless and unnatural.  Also many of these types of crowns have a dark line at or under the gums so the gums end up looking unnatural as well.

The answer to solve all of the problems Donna expressed to Dr. Huefner was for him to remove the four old porcelain fused to metal caps and replace them with all-ceramic non-metal porcelain crowns.  Also, to do four additional crowns on the visible cuspids and bicuspids that were so yellow colored and crooked.  This would enable Donna and Dr. Huefner to choose a tooth color that was much whiter and not yellow like her previous dentist has utilized.  The end result would be straight, white, “real looking” teeth and natural looking gums.

Donna liked Dr. Huefner’s approach, especially since he felt extremely confidant that he would be able to achieve all of her goals and give her  younger and more attractive looking teeth and smile.  She scheduled her first appointment for two weeks later and her entire smile makeover with non-metal all-ceramic crowns was completed just two and a half weeks after that.  The end result was just what Dr. Huefner had promised and Donna’s new smile looked gorgeous.  San Diego cosmetic dentistry comes through for Donna!

Aliso Viejo porcelain veneers for Denise

Aliso Viejo porcelain veneers

Denise came to Dr. Huefner to get a nice smile with straight, white teeth. Dr. Huefner gave her the smile that she had always wanted with ten dental laminates (or porcelain veneers).

Denise is one of our local patients from Aliso Viejo.  She’s a mom and “the kids are finally grown up and out of the house,” she told us.  She went on to say that she has always put her children and family first, but also has always wanted to do something to “fix her teeth”.  Now she is finally in a position to take care of her long overdue dental problems.

“Fixing teeth” can mean a lot of different things to different people.  Before Dr. Huefner would recommend any dental treatment he needed to know more, what exactly did “fixing her teeth” mean to Denise?

“Well, I’ve got yellow, crooked teeth and a lot of fillings.  I really want pretty teeth and to me that means that they should be straight, white and not show any of the fillings,” she told us.  “Can’t you fix all that with cosmetic dentistry?”

Aliso Viejo porcelain veneers solve Denise’s dental problems

Denise’s problem is very straight forward, as we have successfully treated many patients who have dental issues very similar to hers.  In days past the typical answer was to have braces to make her teeth straight or do crowns to make them straight and white.  But today cosmetic dentists will often recommend porcelain veneers or dental laminates.  They have many advantages over orthodontics, as orthodontics can take months to years and only make teeth straight.  If the teeth are discolored or chipped or have many unsightly fillings orthodontics alone will not fix those problems.  And crowns can be a solution, but crowns require a more aggressive approach to dental laminates or porcelain veneers.  Clearly the advantages of dental laminates or Aliso Viejo porcelain veneers are much less drilling of the teeth, a stronger and more healthy underlying tooth and usually a much more natural looking end result.

crooked discolored teeth

Denise had put her kids and family first for many years. Finally her children were grown and out of the home and it was time that she could do something for herself. That "something" was to fix her teeth. She always disliked the crooked, discolored teeth with many fillings. What she wanted was straight, white teeth, which Dr. Huefner gave her with ten porcelain veneers.

Like most of our patients Denise appreciated the more conservative approach of dental laminates or porcelain veneers.  And she was thrilled that her entire treatment could be completed in just a few weeks time.  But then she had another question.  “I want my teeth to be white, but how white can you make them?” she asked.  Dr. Huefner answered, “As white as you want because YOU get to choose the color.  We will certainly give you our opinion and recommendations, but you will be choosing the color of your dental laminates.”  Denise really liked that answer.

Denise’s treatment went very smooth.  Dr. Huefner did ten dental laminates (porcelain veneers) on her upper teeth. She chose a BL2 tooth shade from the tooth shade guide.  She also did tooth bleaching on her lower teeth.  The final result was that Denise got the smile that she always wanted, straight, white, gorgeous looking teeth.  Afterwards she said she only had one regret, that she would have done her porcelain veneers years ago!

Orange County Cosmetic Dentistry Fixes Soccer Coach’s Brown Teeth Smile with Porcelain Veneers

before and after porcelain veneers to correct dark discolored teeth

Lower photo: Ted had multiple colored teeth but the two brown ones were particularly annoying. Upper photo: By placing eight porcelain veneers Dr. Huefner was able to create a beautiful smile for Ted and gave him the white uniformly colored teeth that he has always wanted.

Ted is a beloved soccer coach in Orange County.  In his younger days when he was competitively playing soccer he banged his front teeth so many times that they chipped and discolored from the repeated trauma.  After years of putting up with multiple discolored teeth he realized that as professional he couldn’t go around anymore with teeth that looked as bad as his did!  It was time to explore his cosmetic dentistry options.

When Ted smiled it was very easy to see his concerns.  All of his upper front teeth were different colors!  Fortunately Ted was the perfect candidate for porcelain veneers to give him the smile he always wanted.  But before we would recommend how many porcelain veneers to do for Ted he needed to tell us what color he wanted his “new teeth” to be?  If he just wanted to match his side teeth, which were lighter than his front teeth but still a bit yellow, then we would only recommend doing only four porcelain veneers.

As a young soccer player Ted had incurred repeated trauma to his teeth, resulting in chipped teeth that were severely discolored. As a professional man Ted realized the importance of his smile and the need for him to fix his teeth with cosmetic dentistry.

As a young soccer player Ted had incurred repeated trauma to his teeth, resulting in chipped teeth that were severely discolored. As a professional man Ted realized the importance of his smile and the need for him to fix his teeth with cosmetic dentistry.

But Ted said he wanted a clean, white smile.  Also, his whole life he had wanted whiter teeth and since he was finally determined to get cosmetic dentistry that he wanted the best looking smile that we could do for him.  When Ted smiled he clearly showed eight teeth, thus we recommended doing eight porcelain veneers in the whiter color that he would choose.

porcelain veneers for dark brown teeth

Ted chose a BL2 shade for his eight porcelain veneers, slight surface texture, slight incisal translucency and a masculine smile design. The end result was a very natural looking "white teeth", which was a dramatic transformation from his old smile.

So, one of the first things we did was to start looking at the different tooth shades or colors available.  We brought out our dental shade guide and showed Ted many of the different colors that he had to choose from.  Since Ted said he wanted “white teeth” we narrowed down the colors to those in the bleaching shade range, BL1 through BL4.  He asked us which of the shades we recommended.  Our answer to Ted was that in general the BL2 shade is the most popular.  Patients who really want really white teeth usually chose BL1.  We stressed that we will only advise and recommend shades, that the final decision on tooth shade would be his!  Ted chose the BL2 shade for his new porcelain veneers.

We almost immediately started Ted’s porcelain veneer treatment at our Orange County Cosmetic Dentistry practice.  We completed his smile makeover three weeks later and Ted loved the end results!

When severely discolored teeth can’t be corrected with teeth bleaching then Huntington Beach porcelain veneer treatment is most often the treatment of choice

When severely discolored teeth negatively effect an entertainers career

Vivian, a sixty year old vocalist who lives in Huntington Beach, was very frustrated.  She is a vocalist and recently retired.  But her love, her passion in life is singing and performing on stage.  She came to our cosmetic dentistry practice in Orange County, CA because she was referred by one of her friends.  She wanted to discuss her cosmetic dentistry options.  Vivian was very proud to point out that her age and her voice weren’t holding her back, but what was, she thought, was the appearance of her teeth and smile!

severely discolored teeth before cosmetic dentistry

Vivian, an entertainer in her sixties, was embarrassed about the appearance of her severely discolored teeth and felt they were holding her back. Because of the severe discoloration, teeth bleaching wasn't a treatment option. Her teeth were healthy, so didn't need porcelain crowns. So, what was the best option to give Vivian a great smile with whiter, evenly colored teeth?

When asked about her main concerns, Vivian was quick to answer “I hate the color of my teeth!”  What she was referring to was very obvious, as when she smile she showed ten upper front teeth, but out of those ten teeth five had completely different and unique colors.  In general when teeth are discolored, but all in the same color range, tooth bleaching (also called tooth whitening) is the dentist’s first choice.  But someone with six differently color teeth, like Vivian, would end up with slightly whiter teeth with teeth bleaching, but the end result is that her teeth still would not match in color shade.

On close examination Vivian had pretty healthy teeth.  Yeah, they were discolored and her gums had receded a bit, but her teeth didn’t have any decay, fractures or anything that would indicate the need for porcelain caps (crowns).

So, given that cosmetic dentists generally try to do the most conservative, least invasive and costly procedure to get the desired result, what was the best treatment to achieve Vivian’s goals of white teeth, all having the same color?

Porcelain Veneers Huntington Beach was the Treatment of Choice

Unquestionably, the treatment of choice for Vivian was porcelain veneers!  So the next question is how many porcelain veneers to do for Vivian and how white did she want them?

In Vivian’s favor was the fact that although she showed ten of her upper front teeth when she smiled, the bicuspids on the side were of a lighter shade, more attractive color.  When we asked Vivian if she would be happy if all her front teeth matched those lighter two biscupid teeth on each side she said, “Sure, if you can make my front six teeth match them I’ll be very happy!”

So, the answers to the two questions was easy. We would make Vivian six porcelain veneers on her front six teeth and match the color of the two visible bicuspids that we could see on each side.

We proceeded with Vivian’s six porcelain veneers and her treatment was completed two weeks later.

porcelain veneers huntington beach

In just a few appointments and two weeks time Vivian got the whiter, evenly color teeth and great looking smile that she always wanted with six porcelain veneers. Her friends told her that she looked happier and younger, both very good things!

More confidence and a younger looking smile – both a good thing!

A week after they were done we brought Vivian back for a final polish and adjustment of her six porcelain veneers.  We asked how she felt about her new smiled?  “I feel great, I love the color,” she said.  “I sincerely wish I would have done this years ago.  But the things I like best is that my friends have told me that I look younger and I sure feel cleaner.”  Later she told us that her singing hobby is doing well, she’s having a lot of fun and that she definitely has much more confidence on stage!  “Most of all,” she said, “I love having a younger looking smile!”

Please feel free to comment or ask questions about Vivian’s porcelain veneer treatment.

Orange County Porcelain Veneers Love Story With a Very Happy Ending

Dark Line Around Porcelain Crowns

black line around old porcelain crowns

Over several decades Kathy's gums receded around her crowns, exposing a black line and dark roots. She wanted her front two teeth to look natural, but she also wanted whiter teeth that were straight, but didn't want to go through braces again.

Kathy is a health care professional who lives in Dana Point.  When she was a young girl she fell and chipped off the edges of her two front teeth.  One of her teeth turned dark, but Kathy didn’t get them fixed until as young lady in her 20s her dentist made her two porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns.  The dentist did the best he could, but in that era dental techniques and materials still had much to be desired.

Decades past and Kathy’s gums receded, exposing both the black metal line of the crown the dark root underneath.  As a health care professional she realized that her teeth didn’t look very good and her smile wasn’t an adjunct to her looking professional and presenting herself as the best that she could be.  Time to get some cosmetic dentistry.

Before discussing her options we needed to know what Kathy’s ultimate goals were?  Did she just want to replace the front two crowns, upgrading the old style porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns with all-porcelain crowns, matching the color of the new crowns to her other teeth, or did she want to improve the appearance of her other teeth as well? Really the question was did she just want better looking front two teeth or did she want great looking teeth and a fantastic  smile?

porcelain veneers and porcelain crowns dana point

By replacing Kathy's old crowns with all-porcelain crowns and placing porcelain veneers on her other upper teeth Kathy got a beautiful smile!

Kathy said that she had three goals in mind:

  • Most importantly, she wanted her front two teeth to match all the rest
  • Second, her son was getting married and she wanted her teeth whiter for wedding photos
  • Thirdly, Kathy had four bicuspid teeth extracted as a child and then braces.  After the spaces were closed with the braces the result was that her side teeth leaned so far inward that it made her six front teeth look very prominent.  She wanted to know if it would be possible with cosmetic dentistry to make her side teeth lean out straight?

Cosmetic Dentistry for Optimum Esthetics

Kathy was pleased to learn that her front two crowns could be remade as non-metal all-porcelain crowns to look natural, wouldn’t have any underlying metal, would hide the underlying dark root and match her other teeth.  That would achieve her first goal.  But if she wanted the other two goals achieved the best treatment would be to place porcelain veneers on her other upper teeth, something we often called “instant orthodontics“.  Although not actually orthodontics, the porcelain veneers could make her other teeth look straight “as if” she had undergone braces (orthodontics).  Best news of all, everything, her entire cosmetic dentistry treatment could be completed in just a couple weeks, not a couple years as was her original orthodontic treatment.

orange county porcelain veneers

Kathy got a beautiful smile with straight, white teeth by placing new all-ceramic crowns and porcelain veneers. She looked terrific in family photos at her son's wedding.

It didn’t take Kathy long to make her decision.  She wanted to look her very best and chose to do the cosmetic dentistry that would make all of her teeth and smile look its very best!  Thus, Kathy asked us to replace her two old porcelain-fused-to-metal caps with all-ceramic crowns and place porcelain veneers on her other upper teeth.

Kathy’s cosmetic dentistry treatment was completed in a couple weeks.  She got the whiter color teeth she wanted, her teeth all looked straight and her side teeth no longer leaned inwards.  There was no longer any darkness or metal around her two front teeth, which was a huge relief.

At her son’s wedding Kathy looked elegant.  In the family wedding photos her smile was ravishing!
