Turkey Teeth Gets Smile Makeover with Porcelain Veneers Irvine

“You have turkey teeth!”
turkey teeth before porcelain veneers

Gwen was congenitally missing a tooth and her teeth spaced out. As a young girl many kids made fun of her teeth, one even calling her "turkey teeth". Finally Gwen decided to have cosmetic dentistry with porcelain veneers to correct her unsightly smile.

As a young girl Gwen (not her real name) used to get ridiculed at school because of her teeth.  At one time someone said something extremely hurtful to her, “Gwen, you have turkey teeth!”  Sometimes people, and especially children, can be so mean that the damage of their spoken words carry on for decades.  The old saying “sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never hurt me” is not true.  Words do hurt!

Congenitally missing lateral incisor

Gwen was not fortunate to have a healthy, attractive smile. She was among 5% of the population who are congenitally missing one or more teeth (never had the “tooth buds” that form the teeth during childhood). The most common missing tooth or teeth are the upper lateral incisors, the teeth right next to the front two teeth. When this happens there is usually some spacing of the other teeth, a disharmony and resulting asymmetry in the smile.

congenitally missing tooth corrected with porcelain veneers

After "dental magic" was performed. Her right canine tooth was shaped to look like the missing lateral incisor. The first premolar was reshaped to look like a canine tooth. The results were amazing, as it appears that she has the normal compliment of six front teeth.

No longer a young lady Gwen decided to finally do something to correct her smile.  She lived in Orange County and because we treated so many other patients from Irvine, Gwen came to our cosmetic dentistry Irvine office for a dental exam and to discuss the options available to correct her disheveled smile.  When asking some questions to find out more about Gwen’s expectations, something horrible came out. She said that because she had always hated her teeth that she never took care of them, as she was waiting for them to start falling out so she could have false teeth (dentures).  She thought that since she had never had braces as a child that she had no other options. Fortunately, Gwen was very wrong on the concept that dentures would be the best option for her. When we looked carefully at Gwen’s teeth and smile we noted that she only has five of her front six teeth, missing the lateral incisor on her right side. She also had significant spacing and a moderately gummy smile.

That was a life changing day for Gwen, as we happily informed her that we did not have to pull all her teeth and make dentures for her to get a great smile. As a matter of fact, with some laser gum reshaping (denal gum lift) to remove some of her excess gums, and porcelain veneers, Gwen could get an incredibly natural smile.

Dental Magic with porcelain veneers

That sounded great to Gwen, but she asked how Dr. Huefner could make a smile for her with porcelain veneers that looks as if she has all her teeth? After all she was missing one tooth, and there wasn’t enough space to put in a bridge?  The answer was doing dentistry like a magician, doing porcelain veneers in a manner that gives the illusion that all teeth are present.   Dr. Huefner told Gwen that this involves much creativity, but was happy to explain more.  Since Gwen was missing the second tooth (lateral incisor) on her right, he would make the third tooth (canine) look like a second tooth (lateral incisor), and the fourth tooth (first premolar) look like a third tooth (canine). Just like “magic”, Dr. Huefner would use illusions to make it look as if she was not missing any teeth, so that she looked like she has the normal six front teeth, not five.

“How long would all this dentistry take?”, asked Gwen.  She was very pleased to learn that all her treatment could be completed in just under a months time.  Now smiling a little more, Gwen said she wanted to get started as soon as possible so that she could have her new smile before the holidays, especially Thanksgiving when all her family would be getting together.

No more turkey teeth!

Excited, Gwen proceeded with cosmetic dental treatment with porcelain veneers to correct her congenitally missing  and the results was an incredible new smile for her. It was actually a life changing dentistry.  Her gums were even after laser gum reshaping, no more spacing, appearance of no missing teeth, whiter teeth color and normal teeth shape. She was elated and couldn’t believe how beautiful the final results were!  “I don’t think anyone will ever make fun of my teeth and smile again,” said Gwen very happily, “An nobody will ever call me Turkey Teeth either!”

Smile Makeover with Instant Orthodontics and Porcelain Veneers for Orange County Public Speaker

A public speaker not happy with the appearance of her teeth
porcelain veneers irvine

Vanessa, a nationally recognized public speaker from Irvine, with ten porcelain veneers by Dr. Huefner. She wanted a younger looking smile that also looked very natural and reinforced her professional image.

Vanessa, one of our Orange County patients from Irvine, is a public speaker.  As a matter of fact, she travels all over the country lecturing on her area of expertise.  Often she’s on stage speaking to several hundred people at a time.  One day she watched several videos of her seminars and a key point came to her that she didn’t have an impressive smile, one that would impress her clients and seminar attendees.  “Walking the talk” is something Vanessa really believes in, and if she expected people all her business and professional contacts to respect her as the leading professional in the field that she is, she knew that what she needed to do was get her smile into shape.  The big question in her mind was how?

What’s the best way to get a great looking smile?

Braces? Cosmetic dentistry?  Bleaching?  What would be the best way for Vanessa to get the very best looking smile?  Vanessa consulted with a couple dentists and an orthodontist.  The orthodontist said the solution for crooked teeth was braces and actually straightening her teeth would only take about a year.  But Vanessa clearly understood that the braces wouldn’t correct the color, length or shape of her teeth and something else other than braces still would be necessary to give her the great looking smile she wanted.

Complimentary cosmetic dentistry consultation

Next Vanessa had a complimentary cosmetic dentistry consultation with Dr. Huefner’s at his Orange County cosmetic dental practice that serves many patients from Irvine.  Vanessa wanted to know what options there were available with cosmetic dentistry?  “That all depends on what kind of smile you want,” answered Dr. Huefner.  “You tell me what you don’t like about your smile, what you want changed, the kind of teeth and smile you want, and of course the color….how white would you like your teeth to be?  Then I can tell you what I think it will take to give you what you want, or any other options that might be available today.”

Vanessa before porcelain veneers irvine

Vanessa's teeth were somewhat crooked, discolored, worn and she felt they distracted from her professional image as a nationally recognized speaker.

Vanessa was very direct and quick to articulate what she wanted.  She wanted white, even, straight teeth, and teeth that were a little longer than they were, which had shortened from wear and tooth grinding.  Also having her teeth look “real” and “natural” were extremely important.  Vanessa had seen people with “bad caps” or “bad veneers that looked like Chicklets”, and she wanted to make sure that her teeth look natural, and definitely not fake!

Smile makeover in just a few weeks

After looking closer at Vanessa’s teeth and smile, Dr. Huefner gave Vanessa the good news she was hoping to hear.  Vanessa could have her smile completely redone with ten porcelain veneers on her upper teeth, bleaching her lower teeth with Zoom teeth whitening, and she would have her new smile completed in just a couple weeks!

Porcelain Veneers compared to Porcelain Crowns

Porcelain veneers?”, Vanessa asked, “What’s the difference between porcelain veneers and caps?  I talked to one dentist and he wanted to cap all my teeth.”
“Great question!”, answered Dr. Huefner, who went on to explain that porcelain veneers are a conservative method of giving her teeth a great visible surface for everybody to see by covering primarily the front of the teeth, whereas porcelain caps (or also commonly called crowns) involve more drilling of her teeth and covering over the entire tooth with the cap.  Clearly someone like Vanessa, who has healthy teeth and very few cavities or fillings, would enjoy the benefits of one of the most conservative cosmetic methods like dental bonding or porcelain veneering.  If she had many fillings or cavities, or her teeth were way out of alignment, sometimes then Dr. Huefner might use all-porcelain non-metal crowns (caps).  But in Vanessa’s case, porcelain veneers were the best way to go.  He could give her the shape and color teeth she liked, creating a beautiful and professional looking smile.

Completed smile design

In designing Vanessa’s smile with porcelain veneers Dr. Huefner did make her teeth a little longer, compensating for the wear that had shortened them over the years.  In deciding the exact length of the veneers, he used her lower lip when she was smiling as a guide.  This is a cosmetic dentistry concept called “following the smile line“.  Vanessa liked the LVI “enhanced” smile style, one of the most popular smile designs Dr. Huefner uses for women who like feminine smiles and also looking “a little younger”.  For color or tooth shade, Vanessa chose BL1, one of the whiter colors from the dental shade guide.  That worked well for Vanessa because she is often on stage and doesn’t prefer darker lipstick (darker lipstick usually contrasts with tooth color and makes the teeth look whiter than they really are). Since real teeth don’t look all one color and have some color gradations and hues, Dr. Huefner added some slight subtle translucency at the edges of the teeth, mimicking that found in natural teeth.  Teeth that are exclusively all one color (or monochromatic) without any of the aforementioned variations are a dead giveaway for “fake teeth”.  Slight surface texture was added, again copying that found in more natural teeth.  Teeth that are completely flat and smooth reflect light in a way that looks unnatural, and thus again came make her teeth look artificial.  The goal for most patients is try to look younger and more natural, and have an obvious “I have crowns” or “I have veneers” look!

Instant Orthodontics with Porcelain Veneers

The porcelain veneers also accomplished something cosmetic dentists also refer to as “instant orthodontics“, meaning the patient gets straight teeth (as if they had had orthodontics) almost instantly.  Or in at least a few weeks.

As demonstrated in the photo of Vanessa, that mission was accomplished for our Orange County public speaker with beautiful porcelain veneers!

Dark Yellow Teeth Transforms to Natural White Smile with Porcelain Veneers Orange County

Carla’s was ready to get the smile makeover she needed
porcelain veneers correcting dark-yellow teeth

Carla with her more youthful, more feminine smile makeover with porcelain veneers and porcelain crowns. Her dark yellow teeth were transformed to a natural-white color.

Carla’s teeth were a very dark yellow color and hated it!  She is a very friendly, upbeat, chatty lady who is always smiling, but also always a bit embarrassed about the appearance of her teeth and smile.  Recently divorced and wanting to look her best in the social environment, Carla said it was finally time to find an Orange County cosmetic dentist and see what could be done for her.

Cosmetic Dentistry Consultation

When Carla came in for her complimentary cosmetic dentistry consultation we asked her what she didn’t like about her smile, what she wanted changed, what kind of smile she wanted and if she had already thought she knew what kind of treatment she wanted?

dark-yellow aged teeth in need of cosmetic dentistry

Carla was displeased and embarrassed with her dark-yellow teeth and aged smile. She came to Dr. Huefner for a smile makeover and subsequently he designed a younger, more feminine smile with the whiter color teeth she desired.

She answered that she pretty much knew what she didn’t like about her smile.  Her teeth were way too dark.  When she smiled she didn’t like showing so much gums, which were a little uneven.  Her side teeth on the right leaned in a little and since she had a habit of grinding her teeth, she knew that he teeth were beginning to shorten.  She knew that younger ladies, especially many models, usually had longer teeth than she did.

Regarding what she wanted changed, she said she wanted all the teeth that show when she smiles to be the same color and she wanted that color WHITE!  But, she said, I still want them to look “real” and “natural”.  She had seen people with caps or porcelain veneers that looked too thick and fake-like.  She definitely didn’t want that!  She asked, “Can you give me a smile that makes me look a little younger?  I don’t want to look like a teenager, but it would be nice to take 5-10 years off of my face.”

Carla said she had researched porcelain veneers but didn’t know if that would work for her. A previous dentist had told her that “veneers don’t work” and put three caps on her teeth.  She really liked the idea of porcelain veneers rather than caps (porcelain crowns) because in her mind she knew that porcelain veneers would mean there would be less drilling on her teeth.

Porcelain Veneers and Porcelain Crowns were the treatment of Choice

To Carla’s delight, Dr. Huefner told her she was an excellent candidate for porcelain veneers on her natural teeth.  Also, the three porcelain-fused-to-metal crowns that she already had could be replaced with all-porcelain crowns (no metal) that would be made of the same exact material as the new porcelain veneers, so everything would look the same color, the whiter color that she requested.

Laser Gum Lift or Laser Gum Recontouring

Regarding Carla’s gums, they could easily be evened out with a simple minimally-invasive procedure called laser gum recontouring, or gum lift.  That is a very conservative procedure that doesn’t involve stitches or bleeding, and usually heals up in just a few days.  It’s actually similar to some of the procedures that dermatologists and plastic surgeons use to rejuvenate skin.

Dr. Huefner agreed with Carla wanting longer, more youthful looking teeth.  He said he would recommend using one of the most popular smile styles requested by most women, a design that is generally considered more youthful and more feminine, the LVI “enhanced” smile style.  Dr. Huefner said he would not only make the porcelain veneers longer, but he would have the edges follow “the smile line“, which a concept cosmetic dentists use meaning following the contour of the lower lip when smiling.

Carla proceeded with her cosmetic dental treatment, having seven porcelain veneers and three all-porcelain crowns.  She chose one of the more natural whiter dental shades, BL1.  Dr. Huefner added mild surface texture and slight translucency to the edges, both design features that make porcelain veneers and porcelain crowns look more natural and life-like.  Carla was pleased that her treatment was done very efficiently, as she got her completed new smile in just over two weeks time.  And the results?  She got the younger, more feminine smile she had always wanted, and the dark-yellow color replaced by a natural white color of her choosing.

Smile Rejuvenation and Correcting a Double-Tooth with Porcelain Veneers Orange County

cosmetic dentist orange county gemination double-tooth

There were many things that Cheryl wanted corrected with cosmetic dentistry. Her upper right lateral incisor was geminated and twice the size of a normal tooth. Her teeth were worn and shortened, discolored and she had uneven gums.

Orange County Cosmetic Dentistry

Cheryl, one of our long standing Orange County patients from Irvine, had been promoted to a top position of authority in her profession.  After seeing her teeth wear and discolor over the years she became increasingly concerned about the way they looked especially now, when she would do much public speaking and having so many of her colleagues looking up to her.  When we asked Cheryl what she wanted changed the most about her teeth and smile she replied that one of her front teeth was way too wide, definitely out of proportion to the rest of her teeth.  She said she had always wanted that corrected and wanted to know if porcelain veneers were done for her would that fix that problem?  In addition Cheryl said she wanted teeth that were whiter and longer like they were when she was younger.

Cosmetic Dentistry Consultation

When we examined Cheryl at her cosmetic dentistry consultation several of the things she mentioned were noted.  First, she did have an upper right lateral incisor (the tooth immediately next to her front tooth) that was way too wide, disproportionate to the same tooth on the other side and almost the same size as her front two teeth.  In fact it was almost double the size of a normal tooth which in most cases is about 60% as wide as the front two teeth.  The dental term for what happened to that tooth was gemination, where the bud that develops into the tooth formed a double tooth, or twin tooth, on a single root.

orange county porcelain veneers geminated tooth correction with cosmetic dentistry

Cheryl's smile was rejuvenated with porcelain veneers. Her gums were evened out with the dental gum laser, her teeth were lengthened and whitened with porcelain veneers, and most importantly the geminated double-tooth was corrected to normal size and proportion.

Tooth Grinding Treatment

Also, Cheryl’s teeth were worn down considerably, as she had an unfortunate habit of grinding her teeth at night when she slept.  Over the years her grinding habit had done much damage to her teeth.  The results of the teeth grinding are unattractive and unfortunately often produce a very aged looking smile. This wearing down that occurs with many people who grind their teeth at night causes the teeth to continually get shorter and shorter over the years, so her problems of her already short teeth getting shorter weren’t over yet.  Something about that needed to be done.

Cheryl mentioned that her teeth were also too yellow and she definitely wanted them whiter.  When measuring the color of her teeth they were shade A3.5, which is one of the darker, more yellow colors of teeth (see article on tooth shade). When doing smile makeovers for patients that particular shade is definitely not one of the popular shades with patients or cosmetic dentists.  Today most everybody realizes that whiter teeth are more attractive and youthful looking.  That is what Cheryl wanted, a whiter, better proportioned and more youthful looking smile.

Laser Gum Reshaping

Another thing, one that is commonly missed by many dentists without any formal training in cosmetic dentistry and smile design is treatment of uneven gums prior to doing porcelain veneers or porcelain crowns.  Her upper teeth all had gums that were at different levels, producing a haphazard appearance.  Nice straight even teeth are important, but if the gums are not even as well much of the desired cosmetic effect can be lost.  Fortunately recontouring uneven gums like Cheryl’s is a very comfortable and straight forward procedure with the dental gum laser than many cosmetic dentists have these days.

To answer Chery’s original question, would cosmetic dentistry with porcelain veneers be the way to go for this Orange County lady?  The answer was a most certain “yes”!  Cheryl could have a straight, white smile with well proportioned teeth and gums, and her entire treatment could be completed in just a little over two weeks time. As you might imagine, Cheryl was excited and wanted to start her treatment immediately, which it was.  Dr. Huefner did ten porcelain veneers after gums reshaping with the laser gum laser.  He utilized Empress porcelain, shade BL2 and an “enhanced” smile style (see LVI smile library).  In Cheryl’s own words, “the results are amazing, I wish I would have had it done twenty years ago.”

Cosmetic Dentistry for Newport Beach Executive Long Overdue

Newport Beach man in need of cosmetic dentistry

Blake is an executive in a prominent firm in Newport Beach. In front of clients and colleagues every day, Blake was becoming increasingly aware that his teeth and smile didn’t look very good and for someone who always prided himself in being extremely good at what he does….well….Blake knew it was time he finally get his smile in order with cosmetic dentistry. He had been faithful going to his family dentistry for years, but he had never suggested to Blake that anything could be done to improve his smile.  Thus, not fully trusting his family dentist to correct his disheveled smile, Blake started researching cosmetic dentists in Newport Beach and elsewhere in Orange County.

before porcelain veneers and cosmetic dentistry newport beach

Blake was discouraged that his smile looked so disheveled. Of his six front teeth, all were different colors.

What do we do about discolored and crooked teeth?

Upon discussing with Blake about how he could help him, Dr. Huefner asked him to list the three things that bothered him about his smile.  “Only three?”, answered Blake, “I can easily tell you six.  First, I hate the cap on my front tooth.  All my teeth are different colors.  My front two teeth don’t match at all.  One is shorter and much darker than the other.  The tooth next to my left front tooth is pushed back.  All my teeth are crooked.  What I really want is natural looking teeth, much whiter than I have now, but even and straight!”  Blake seemed to know exactly what he didn’t like about his smile and how he wanted it corrected with cosmetic dentistry.

After careful consideration of everything Blake had said, Dr. Huefner discussed his options.  First, braces by itself, tooth whitening with bleaching or replacing the cap on his front tooth would all give improvements, but wouldn’t achieve the goals that Blake  had given him.  “Blake,” Dr. Huefner said, “I believe the best approach to achieve the goals for your teeth and smile is to bleach your lower teeth with teeth whitening, replace the front cap with an all-porcelain crown and place porcelain veneers on the seven other visible teeth.  Your treatment, beginning to end will be completed in just a little over two weeks time.”

Blake got the smile he had always wanted. His teeth were even, all a whiter natural color and fitting with his professional image.

Porcelain Veneers and a Porcelain Crown achieve a successful end result

Blake was very encouraged by what Dr. Huefner had recommended, as he didn’t want to have caps on all of his teeth as another dentist had recommended. “How white will you make ’em?”, Blake asked.  Dr. Huefner told Blake that the color would be his choice, but of course he would work very closely with Blake to make sure that the color he chose would look good and “not fake”.  (Blake chose BL2 for the color of his veneers and crown) Dr. Huefner also discussed that he would make the two short teeth on his right a little longer and design a masculine smile design for him.

Treatment was promptly started and everything went smoothly.  Blake got the smile he wanted two weeks later and was very appreciative about his cosmetic dental care.

Lori’s Ugly Front Crown and Dark Teeth Needed Cosmetic Dentistry

Irvine Cosmetic Dentist for Lori
irvine cosmetic dentistry before porcelain veneers

Lori hated the cap on her front tooth. Also, she wanted her teeth whiter and straighter.

Lori, a business executive from Irvine needed some dental help.  As a young lady she fell and broke her front tooth in half, but fortunately she was able to save it and had a cap (porcelain crown) made by her family dentist to restore her smile.  She had also had braces as a child, but like so many others, didn’t wear her retainer and her teeth and bite shifted over the years.  Lori felt very strongly that one’s appearance is an important factor in achieving success, and with regards to her teeth and smile felt that she wasn’t doing as much as she should have to look her very best.  She said that she needed a good dentist, but this time rather than a general dentist, like the one who placed the first porcelain crown on her front tooth, she wanted a dentist who was really experienced with cosmetic dentistry.  After consulting with three other dentists Lori sought Dr. Huefner’s recommendation as to the best way to revitalize her smile, to get the professional and attractive smile that she had always wanted.

The most important appointment is the cosmetic dentistry consultation

Lori’s first question to Dr. Huefner was “What would you do to correct my teeth and smile?  I’ve gone to three other dentists in Irvine and elsewhere in Orange County, and each one wants to do something different.”  Dr. Huefner explained to Lori that if she consulted with ten cosmetic dentists she would still probably get ten different treatment plans and end results.  “Cosmetic dentistry is an art, and although much of the cosmetic dentist’s ability comes from training and experience, that one of most important factor is the actual artistic ability of the cosmetic dentist.  However today,” Dr. Huefner continued to explain to Lori, “the most important thing I can do is carefully listen to you, to what you like about your teeth, what you don’t like, what you want changed and the kind of smile you want in the end.  When I truly know what you want and expect, then I can tell you what I think is the best approach to giving you that smile.”

Lori said that most of all she hated her front cap (her old porcelain crown).  That it didn’t match the tooth next to it and that the gums around it were darker too.  Also, that after he orthodontics relapsed, that her teeth shifted to her right.  She hated the fact that they were still crooked and all her life she wanted a bright, white smile with straight and normally shaped teeth.  She had one cap, it was a bad experience because she didn’t like the way it looked, and she didn’t want any more “of those.”  Could porcelain veneers solve her problems?

Recommendations to rejuvenate Lori’s smile
porcelain crown and porcelain veneers irvine

Lori's smile enhancement with porcelain veneers and a all-porcelain crown

Dr. Huefner recommended replacing her existing porcelain-fused-to-metal cap with an all-ceramic Empress porcelain crown.  Since she wanted a whiter smile, she should bleach her lower teeth first, that way she could comfortably choose a whiter color for her upper teeth.  And for upper teeth, those teeth would have porcelain veneers.  The end result of having porcelain veneers and a new all-ceramic porcelain crown would be straight, white teeth, balanced and all of uniform proportion.  Dr. Huefner anticipated a treatment time, beginning to end, of three weeks.  In designing her smile he would strive to give her a more youthful, more feminine smile like the LVI “enhanced” smile style.  Probably a shade BL2 or even BL1 if she wanted even whiter teeth.

Porcelain Veneer Treatment completed in two weeks

Before and after porcelain veneers and new porcelain crown

Lori went home and discussed the cosmetic dentistry treatment plan with her husband.  She did the bleach first, as Dr. Huefner had recommended. but said that even though her lower teeth were whiter and weren’t that noticeable, that she knew she would never be satisfied until they all matched.  Thus Lori returned several months later to have lower porcelain veneers.

Laguna Niguel Porcelain Veneers Transform Snaggle Tooth Smile

Laguna Niguel Lady Has Porcelain Veneers to Correct Her Snaggle Tooth Smile
snaggle tooth needed porcelain veneers laguna niguel

Even as a child Candice hated her teeth. In school they teased her with the name "snaggle-tooth". She wanted to know if porcelain veneers would give her a nice smile?

Candice from Laguna Niguel had always hated her teeth.  As a kid in school they had teased her, calling her snaggle-tooth.  That embarrassment never left her.  And, over the years the appearance of her teeth continued to worsen.  She had finally had it and came to our office for a cosmetic dentistry consult to see if porcelain veneers would correct her smile.

At her cosmetic dental appointment she discussed the things she hated.  First her upper left lateral incisor was really turned and pointed way out.  She said “it looks like a fang!”. On the side of that tooth was a big orange spot.  Also, she didn’t like the unevenness of the rest of her teeth, especially the way her right front teeth were shorter than her left.  The spaces between her teeth, near her gum line, were also irritating to her.  But most of all, what she really wanted was a whiter, younger, more feminine looking smile.  She said by no means was she trying to look like she was twenty, but it would sure be nice to look ten years younger.

Designing Candice’s Porcelain Veneers
porcelain veneers laguna niguel

Candice loved her new smile with porcelain veneers. Nobody would ever call her snaggle-tooth again.

After hearing all of Candice’s concerns, she was assured her that she was an excellent candidate for porcelain veneers!  Dr. Huefner discussed how he would design her teeth and smile.  A whiter color teeth was important, but she wanted them to look natural.  Shade BL3 (formerly known as 030) would be used and Empress porcelain.  Dr. Huefner said he likes Empress porcelain with his porcelain veneers because it has been used in dentistry for over 15 years, and has proven to be one of the strongest and yet because of its tooth-like translucency, is one of the most natural looking porcelains.  Dr. Huefner suggested some slight surface texture and incisal translucency that would mimic that of someone a little younger, which was something she really liked to hear.  The new veneers would all be even and proportional, and “follow the smile line“, a term cosmetic dentists use to describe that the edges would follow the contour of her lower lip when she smiled.  The actually smile design formula Dr. Huefner recommended was the “LVI softened” smile style.  But most of all Dr. Huefner assured Candice that nobody would ever look at the her teeth again and call her “snaggle-tooth”.

Beginning to end, Candice’s porcelain treatment was completed in three weeks. She got the smile she always wanted and was the first to admit it took ten years off of her appearance.
